On the lake with the best fauna in Italy, you can find the peregrine falcon and the osprey; the sea jay, the common owl and the little piro piro. Waterfowl include the common pintail, pochard, common shoveler, teal, wigeon, coot, moorhen, mallard, gadwall, greylag goose, egret, white heron and grey heron. The most common amphibians and reptiles are the Sardinian discoglosso sardinella, tarantuline tortoise, marsh tortoise and Herman's tortoise. Other fish include shad (agon), royal perch, black bass, queen and mirror carp, catfish, and colourful carp ranging from golden yellow to amber and especially red.
