Discover the idyllic tranquillity and breathtaking nature on Alp Ell in the middle of the Rietbach moorland on Wolzenalp in Toggenburg. The Toggenburg region is located in the centre of eastern Switzerland, about an hour's drive from Zurich. Our newly remodelled Alpine hut Speerblick offers you a break away from everyday life, perfect for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation.Inside the hut you will find a cosy eat-in kitchen and a cosy living room, which together with a modern bathroom with shower ensure a pleasant level of comfort. Fully furnished and equipped with cooking utensils and crockery, the hut offers everything you need for an unforgettable stay. The wood heating, seven comfortable beds with duvets and three additional mattresses (please bring sleeping bags for the mattresses) promise cosy nights for up to 10 people.The outdoor area invites you to linger and enjoy yourself with a seating area, bench set and barbecue area. Situated at 1100 metres above sea level, the hut is surrounded by meadows and woodland and offers a magnificent view of the Säntis and Speer mountains. The surrounding meadows are farmed organically by us, the Schmid family, with suckler cow husbandry. The cows and calves spend the summer on a high alp in the Glarnerland and on the Unter Bächen alp in Ebnat Kappel. Organic meat and flour can be purchased directly from the farm.Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Toggenburg, the Speerblick Hütte is ideally located for exploring. Whether hiking on the nearby barefoot path through the high moor to the Wolzenalp restaurant with its family-friendly playground or a challenging mountain tour up the Speer - the varied surroundings offer numerous opportunities for outdoor activities. Mountaineering, ice skating, mountain biking, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and much more awaits sports enthusiasts in the surrounding area. In the winter months from December to March, the hut can be reached by chairlift from Krummenau. From the mountain station, it is 300 metres straight ahead to the hut on Alp Ell. The railway offers a luggage transport service from the mountain station to the hut for CHF 30. Please note that the last ascent with the chairlift in the winter months is at 4.00 pm. If your arrival time is outside the opening hours of the cable car, we offer transport from Krummenau to 500 metres from the hut for CHF 30 per journey if possible.
