Way of St James The coastal route on the west coast of the Iberian Peninsula of the Camino de Santiago - Portuguese Way - is a World Heritage Site and passes through Guilheta. According to medieval tradition, pilgrims who venerated the relics of the Apostle Santiago Maior received a partial or total remission of the temporal punishment for sins forgiven through confession (indulgence) and could thus even avoid purgatory. The Way of St James, which for many centuries was considered the most westerly place in the known world and therefore the end of the world, has been popularly associated with the Milky Way for centuries because it supposedly points the way to Santiago de Compostela by night. Since the 1980s, the popularity of walking the 'Camino' has grown considerably and has become not only a spiritual but also a cultural route of the first order, travelled by hundreds of thousands of people throughout the year on foot, by bike, on horseback or even on a donkey. Accessibility and garagesThe ground floor can accommodate up to two people with reduced mobility or even in wheelchairs, as the entire area is accessible via a ramp with a gradient of less than 60 cm.
